Subject: axis directions
Tom,
I'm in the process of getting Bobcad/cam running with KMotionCNC on my Tree Mill.
The axes move the way I would expect with the jog buttons, but the axis signs are reversed from what Bobcad expects.
My mill seems to be x+ to the left, and y+ towards the operator.
Bobcad expects x+ to the right, and Y+ away from the operator, like a standard graph layout.

Is this simply a matter of changing the sign of the output channel gain, or is there another place to adjust this?
The last CNC machine I ran was a Bridgeport Series II, but that was 20 years ago, and I don't remember its sign conventions.
Thanks,
Michael Rosenfield

Hi Mike,

You can reverse the direction an axis drives by changing the sign of the OutputGain parameter.  If you are using servos you will also need to change the sign of the InputGain0 parameter otherwise you would have positive feedback instead of negative feedback and the axis would run away from the destination.
